SUMMARY:Nonprofit Leadership Training Series
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is designed for current and aspiring leaders of nonprofit and civic organizations. This one-day training\, presented by Nonprofit Missouri\, will cover three critical industry topics and will provide you with important knowledge and tools you can readily apply to your organization.\n\n\n\nThe workshop is ideal for organizations of all sizes and types: Social services\, education\, churches and faith-based\, health care\, civic\, and associations. Executive directors\, development directors\, PR/marketing\, program staff\, and board members will all benefit from this practical\, hands-on training.\n\n\n\nThis workshop will be led by industry experts\, including Dan Prater\, Barbara Levin\, and an advisor from BKD CPAs. Dan Prater is the executive director of the Center for Nonprofit Leadership at Drury University. He has more than 20 years' experience with nonprofit corporations\, large and small. Barbara Levin is the Coordinator for Alliance for Building Capacity at the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University and has broad experience in nonprofits and community development.\n\n\n\nSession 1  Board Roles and Responsibilities \n\nThis session will help executive directors and board members to better understand their respective roles and responsibilities\, strengthen the board's ability to provide adequate resources for the organization\, and become more engaged in helping the organization to fulfill its mission. Session Topics:  Governance\, policies\, legal\, fiduciary\, meetings\, self-evaluation\, recruitment\, committees\, etc.\n\n\n\nSession 2  Nonprofit Accounting Practices\n\n All nonprofits need to know accounting basics and how to navigate rules and regulations. In this session\, BKD CPAs & Advisors will provide training on key financial metrics\, compliance and best practices for your 990 tax return. \n\n\n\nSession 3  Nonprofit Advocacy\n\nThis session will focus on identifying and developing effective advocacy strategies that fit your mission\, identifying advocacy issues and an action plan.
