About Us

The Southeastern Missouri Area Health Education Center (SEMO AHEC) is a non-profit organization that is part of the Missouri Area Health Education Centers network (MAHEC). MAHEC is committed to enhancing access to quality health care, particularly primary and preventive care, by growing and supporting Missouri?s healthcare workforce. What Do We Do? Recruit and help high school and undergraduate students who would like to enter a health profession field. Bring medical students to Southeast Missouri to train in local clinics and hospitals. Sponsor continuing education programs for health care professionals and medical education programs for the community. Why Do We Do This? To bring better healthcare to Southeast Missouri! The SEMO AHEC Region includes 22 counties in Southeast Missouri: Bollinger, Butler, Cape Girardeau, Carter, Dunklin, Howell, Iron, Madison, Mississippi, New Madrid, Oregon, Perry, Pemiscot, Reynolds, Ripley, Scott, Shannon, Ste. Genevieve, Stoddard, St. Francois, Texas, and Wayne.
