Membership & Business Development Specialist
Position Overview
The Membership & Business Development Specialist is the driving force behind the Cape Girardeau Chamber’s revenue growth and regional business network expansion. This performance-driven, high-energy role focuses on proactive B2B sales to recruit new members, maximize corporate sponsorships, and drive booth sales for major events like the annual spring Home & Outdoor Show. Combining a strategic sales mindset with top-tier relationship management, this position ensures high member retention, leads key Chamber committees, and directly impacts the economic vitality of our business community.
Compensation & Benefits
· Base Salary: Hiring Range of $40,000 - $45,000 based on Experience
· Quarterly & Annual Bonus: Bonus opportunities based on performance metrics established through strategic goals and planning.

Core Responsibilities
1. Membership Recruitment & Revenue Generation (Primary Focus)
· Outbound Pipeline Management: Actively prospect, network, and pitch regional businesses to hit monthly new member acquisition targets aligned with a 3% to 5% annual organizational growth goal.
· Sponsorship Development: Design, pitch, and secure corporate sponsorships for Chamber programs, signature events, and digital assets to drive non-dues revenue.
· Home & Outdoor Show Lead: Serve as the lead coordinator for booth sales and vendor recruitment for the annual spring Home & Outdoor Show, while collaborating with the staff team on overall event planning and logistics.
· Maintain Membership Database: Collaborate with Director of Operations to ensure membership database is current and contains needed information to stay connected and engaged with current and prospective Chamber Members.
· Event & Program Support: Lead and support operations and executions of Chamber events and programs as needed throughout the year.
2. Network Groups & Committee Leadership (New Focus)
· Chamber Network+ (Leads Group): Launch, develop, and oversee a new, exclusive BNI-style leads generation subgroup designed specifically for Chamber members to pass business referrals and maximize membership ROI.
· Chamber Ambassadors: Serve as the lead staff liaison to the Ambassador Committee, managing their schedules, meetings, and activities as they assist in hosting ribbon cuttings, promoting Chamber initiatives, and supporting recruitment efforts.
· Young Professionals (YP): Support and guide the Young Professionals subgroup, fostering engagement among emerging local professionals to develop the region’s future business leaders.
3. Member Retention & Engagement
· Data-Driven Retention: Analyze engagement metrics to execute proactive retention strategies, ensuring high renewal rates and mitigating member drops.
· Onboarding & Consultation: Conduct structured face-to-face member visits, check-ins, and onboarding activities to connect new and existing members to immediate Chamber value.
· CRM Management: Utilize ChamberMaster daily to maintain meticulous membership records, track sales pipelines, update member details, and generate accurate monthly engagement reports.
